Bonaire Package Vacation

A Bonaire package vacation just seems to fit so well into the island's way of thinking. A vacation should be relaxing, interesting, simple, unhurried, and without worry. And why wait until you arrive to begin unwinding? Your mind should already be at ease when you look out the plane's window with nothing more important to do than watch the clouds float by. That's what a Bonaire package vacation does--gives you peace of mind, and Harbour Village Beach Club at Bonaire has designed its packaged deals so you can be sure they have everything waiting for you. But before they even begin, the biggest part of every package is Bonaire itself.

Together known as the 'ABC' islands, Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao are just puddle-jumps apart off the coast of Venezuela in the Dutch Antilles. Bonaire itself enjoys an average daily temperature of 82 degrees, only 22 inches of rain a year, and is far off the very beaten path of seasonal hurricanes. It's trade winds are balmy, its waters are glass-blue, and its people are gracious and devoted to their home. Since the 1970's, the island's entire coastline from the high-water mark to the 200 foot depth contour has been protected in the Bonaire National Marine Park and almost 25% of its land is National Park or Sanctuary.

All together, over 170 species of birds are found in Bonaire at one time or another, including heron, osprey, frigate birds, cormorants, and others. Pink Flamingoes breed in only four places and Bonaire is one of them; they live there in the tens-of-thousands feeding on brine shrimp and larvae found in the salt ponds to acquire their pinkish hue. (If you'd like to take on a pinkish hue yourself, there is always Sorobon Beach, Bonaire's naturalist resort (clothing optional) just south of Lac Bay, one of the Caribbean's premier windsurfing locations.)

Scuba divers flock to Bonaire, as well, to dive at over 80 top-rated sites. Over 355 species of fish have been counted by researchers in the waters around Bonaire and groves of stoney corals like Fire, Elkhorn, Massive Starlet, and Boulder Brain corals are common. In 2005, readers of Scuba Diving Magazine rated Bonaire Top Caribbean Dive Destination for the third year in a row in addition to Top Marine Life, Top Shore Diving, Top Snorkeling, Top Destination for Underwater Photography and Top Beginner Diving.

For a little island only 24 miles in length and 3-7 miles wide, Bonaire is a very big package indeed.

Packaged vacation specials at Harbour Village range from the romantic to the adventurous. 'Lazy Days, Dreamy Nights' is for those who prefer, shall we say, amorous adventures, including a torch-lit dinner on the beach, aromatherapy massages, a hammock--with champagne, and, for a little break, use of the fitness center, tennis courts, kayaks, sailboats and a day of diving. You'll be picked up and let off at the airport so you can keep holding hands. If all of that works out, Harbour Village offers Wedding and Honeymoon package vacations for your return visit and a staff to help you plan the event for up to 70 guests.

Of course, not everyone is in the mood. For those who just want to get wet and spend time with other wet things, Harbour Village offers a Bonaire package vacation for any budget. The 'Club Dive Special' includes airport transfers, courtyard accommodations, continental breakfast daily, six days of diving which includes unlimited shore diving and 6 day-boat dives with tanks, weights, belts and chilled juices (certified divers only), and unlimited use of the fitness center, tennis courts, kayaks and sailboats. 'Dive Into Luxury' adds a seven-night stay in a luxurious One or Two Bedroom Suite and a full American breakfast daily.
