A Bonaire vacation
rental solves a nagging problem: paradise is habit-forming.
And Bonaire is definitely paradise. Average temperatures
are 82 degrees – the water's 80 degrees – the trade winds
swathe the island, there's little stormy weather, it's
home to tens-of-thousands of preening flamingoes, and
the people are welcoming and devoted to their home. If
you have the time, Bonaire is a good habit to have, and
a vacation rental at Harbour Village Beach Club is the
best way to indulge yourself.
Bonaire is about 24 miles long and 3-7
miles wide, but unlike its sister islands, Aruba and Curacao
(all together the three are known as the 'ABC' islands),
Bonaire has avoided development pressures and a more hurried
lifestyle. With a total population of only 13,000, only
two population centers, Kralendijk (pronounced 'Crawl-en-dike'
but locally called "Playa", meaning "beach")--and
Rincon, plus five small villages, only about 5% of Bonaire's
land area is developed. Bonaire is part of the Netherlands
Antilles and is located just north of Venezuela.
Divers everywhere know Bonaire well.
Top diving and snorkeling sites are found off the coastline
of Bonaire, mostly off the southwest coast, and around
Klein Bonaire, the small island tucked in southwest of
Bonaire's crescent-shaped shoreline. Over 355 species
of fish have been counted by researchers in the waters
around Bonaire and groves of stoney corals like Fire,
Elkhorn, Massive Starlet, and Boulder Brain corals are
common. The readers of Scuba Diving Magazine named Bonaire
the Top Caribbean Dive Destination for the third year
in a row in 2005 and named Bonaire tops in Marine Life,
Shore Diving, Snorkeling, Underwater Photography and Beginner
Diving.
But the people are what set Bonaire
apart, and not simply because they are a friendly people
with a cosmopolitan legacy, but because they realized
how important their place of dreams really was and did
something about it. In the 1970's they created the Bonaire
National Marine Park protecting their coastline from the
high-water mark to the 200 foot depth contour. And just
to top it off, they set aside nearly 25% of their land,
as well, mostly in the Washington Slagbaai National Park
which includes the northern coastline.
Little wonder many people find Bonaire
a hard habit to kick, but indulging the habit isn't that
hard. Residences or Premier Villas at Harbour Village
are a great way to slow down your life while living well,
and a convenient way to take advantage of the many natural
wonders of the island. One, Two and Three Bedroom Villas
are available seaside with double patios and oversized
baths and a long list of amenities, complimentary services
and facilities, and optional services, as well. Harbour
Village also offers guests the opportunity to rent, or
even acquire, exceptional beachfront or marinafront Residences
situated in a private, gated residential community on
Bonaire. For those who enjoy the feeling of being on their
own without sacrificing the comfort of stretching out,
a Bonaire vacation rental at Harbour Village is ideal,
and small parties will find a vacation rental practical,
comfortable, and convenient.
Although rental guests at Harbour Village
have full-kitchens at their disposal, the Club tempts
yet another habit: fine dining. The La Balandra Beach
Bar and Restaurant or Vespucci offers Lunch, and the Chez
Lucille Clubhouse Restaurant is a tempting choice for
Breakfast and Dinner. Cocktails and light tapas can be
enjoyed at the Dinner hour at Morgans Tavern, overlooking
the picturesque Harbour Village marina.
The Clubhouse and Pool, Tennis Courts,
Fitness Center, Members Lounge and the Great Adventures
Program are all available to rental guests and the Beach
Club is an exclusive amenity to owners and guests of the
Residences.
The staff at Harbour Village believe
Bonaire is a good habit to have, and they have a way to
satisfy it – settle in.
